Week 3: Activism

The field of ethics (or moral philosophy) involves systematizing, defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong behavior.

If agreed that design is an expression of thought(s), reflection(s) in human values and if the value is kind and shared, then by using conceptual tools (metaethics, normative ethics, applied ethics) — collaborators will share an ethical responsibility.

Incorporating ethical considerations into the product process by:

  1. Defining ethics for yourself, seeing what your colleagues said, and come to a collective definition for ethics.
  2. Write down your intentions. Be specific in terms of users, context and purpose.
  3. Discuss who is responsible for holding each other’s intention accountable. Write everyone’s responsibilities down.
  4. Write moral responsibilities everyone agrees on. Make sure everyone knows what they mean.
  5. Place your signatures to commit to the ethical objectives.

I propose the above as a living document. As the team develops, members can update and discuss changes.
